Is there a difference between the aluminium and steel versions of the Caravan Canopies?
By Tommy H. on April 15, 2013
Answer:Since you do not specify a model, lets use the Classic and Aluma as examples. The Classic and Aluma are the same product except the Classic has a steel frame whereas the Aluma has an Aluminum frame. Steel is a more durable metal. It will resist bends and nicks and dings much better than aluminum will. Since it is heavier, it is harder to blow over. On the other hand, aluminum is much easier to work with, being lighter. Also because it is lighter, it will put less stress on its own frame which can increase the canopy lifespan beyond that of steel if it is well taken care of. Aluminum will not rust even if it is scratched so it is good for sandy and saltwater environments like the beach.

What's the difference between the 10x10 Displayshade and the Traveler 10x10? I leave mine up all year and like the ability to purchase tops and sides. Do both of these have that capability?
By Emily on October 1, 2013
Answer:Yes, the Caravan Displayshade and the traveler frames can be used with the Caravan sidewalls, and Caravan tops only. The difference is the Traveler is a mid grade aluminum and the Displayshade is a mid grade steel.

By John from Minneapolis, MN on June 3, 2013
What is the difference between the Displayshade & Caravan Traveler? Do the top sides on these model use Velcro or are they zippered? Are the sides of the Alumashade zippered or Velcro?
By Tommy H. on June 3, 2013
Answer:The Displayshade is a model of instant canopy made by Caravan Canopy. It is an all steel frame, whereas the Traveler is partially aluminum, and partially steel, and folds up in such a way that it is only about 4 feet tall when it is put away which makes it easier to travel with. These have Velcro straps which attach the walls and the top to the frame, and the walls have zippers on the sides which zip to one another. This is also true for the Alumashade.

The canopy top sags and holds water and sometimes drips inside, is this a common problem with the canopy?
By Tommy H. on July 26, 2013
Answer:This is a common problem with almost every pop-up canopy regardless of brand. They are not designed to withstand rain. They are shade shelters.
By Len from FL on November 4, 2013
I have a Caravan canopy, 10 x 10, which has been stored indoors, except when in use, which is very little (4 times a year). It is approximately 5 years old. When I used it this weekend, we had a light rain, and it leaked through the top. It appeared that the moisture accumulated into drops on the underside of the top, thereby getting my display wet. Why did that happen?
By Chris C. on November 4, 2013
Answer:Unfortunately, Caravan's tops for their pop up style canopies are only water resistant, not waterproof. The top will keep a passing shower off, but as the top becomes saturated, water will begin to leak through or pool on the top itself.
By Len from The Villages, FL on November 4, 2013
Is there a product that could be used to improve the water proof capability of the canopy?
By Tyler M. on November 5, 2013
Answer:We have had several customers use Scotchgard on canopy tops to help with water resistance. However, please note that any such practice does void the warranty on the canopy top, so use it at your own risk.

Can the attached (or structural) center canopy post be removed? Or replaced with a shorter post (for stability)? It is a 10x10. I have to plan a show layout but my ceiling prevents full height. Snow prevents doing it outside.
By Emily on February 4, 2014
Answer:For safety reasons, the Caravan must be fully set up. The top will not fit correctly, the slack will not be taken out, as well and will not have the visual effects or the water shed that tops may need to have.

Is there any way to get rid of the mildew on a 10x10 caravan canopy that has been there for less than a year?
By Dawn H. on June 2, 2014
Answer:Once mildew appears on your canopy, there is not much that can be done to get rid of it. But you can prevent it from getting worse. Make sure to clean your tent well and it is completely dry before storing away. Most mildew begins when the fabric is stored away wet. Any damage caused by mildew is usually not covered under warranty.
To wash a canopy top, place top on the frame at lowest setting and rinse down with garden hose. Take a mild detergent and use a soft brush for soiled spots. Do not brush graphics. Allow the top to dry completely before storing.
