What kind of printing is used for custom graphics? That may be hard information to find usually. However, when it comes to printing custom graphics on a canopy top, there are four types of printing that can be used. eCanopy only uses two of these types because the other two are becoming obsolete.<\/p>
The first is digital printing. Digital printing is when the canopy top's fabric is fed through a large printer designed to handle big pieces of fabric, resulting in a graphic with many colors, gradients, or even a photo. With a flat fee for most colors, this is a cost-effective option. If you're looking to design more than one canopy, this is the best type of printing available. This is also one of the two methods that eCanopy still uses for custom graphics.<\/p>
Heat fusion is the second type of printing we offer. It merges screen printing and digital patch printing that we discuss more below. With heat fusion, the image or logo is applied to a small patch, but instead of stitching it to a larger piece of fabric, it is heat pressed onto the fabric. The third type of printing is screen printing. You may be familiar with screen printing since this is the type of printing used on t-shirts. While this type of printing is less expensive than a full digital print, it is also substantially more limited on colors. In fact, many screen printing houses may restrict a graphic to three or four colors maximum, making this type of printing best for simple or straightforward designs. eCanopy no longer uses this form of printing either. <\/p>

The fourth are digital patches, which employ many of the same advantages of digital printing but use a much smaller swatch of fabric. When starting out with custom graphics, it is important to use as high quality of an image as possible for the project. The higher the resolution, the better. A 300 DPI file works much better than a 125 DPI file. If you submit a poor or lower resolution picture, there may be a surcharge applied for an artist to recreate the image at a higher resolution. But, it's important to note that you can't always assume that a higher denier indicates superior strength if you're comparing two different materials.<\/p>

Every material has its own strength to weight ratio. In order to understand this more fully, you have to know how denier is calculated. Denier is determined by measuring the weight of 9,000 meters worth of textile fabric in grams. If, for example, 9,000 meters of cotton weighs 550g, then its denier would be equal to 550. Applying this logic, it's easy to see how certain fabrics, particularly synthetic ones like polyester, may have a lower denier rating but greater durability than a fiber such as cotton.<\/p>

While top materials are certainly important for providing overhead shelter, the legs are equally important for holding the shelter in place. Coming in an extensive range of sizes, from as small as 10 by 10 to the massive 100 by 310, pole tents<\/a> use poles to support their weight. The tension created by stakes, or other tie-downs, keep the tent upright and stable. With poles located around the perimeter as well as in the center, this light and easy to use tent is a cost-effective way to cover a larger area. Another draw of this type is the versatility and the variety of colors in order to satisfy any need for customization. <\/p>

There are, however, a few downsides to using a pole tent. The biggest one has to do with placement. Because this type of shelter relies on tension to keep the top from collapsing, you've got very little flexibility when it comes to staking. You need to allow, on average, an extra six feet of space on all sides of your tent to accommodate the required staking. That means that you can't install them right up against a building, for example. And, unless you don't mind making a bunch of holes in the floor, they're definitely not suitable for use indoors.<\/p>
Another thing to keep in mind when deciding if this is the right type of party tent for you is the center pole. The pole can interfere with visibility, as well as making it hard to incorporate larger objects into the layout. If you're hosting an event where they might be an issue, a pole tent may not be the best choice for you.<\/p>
Frame Tents<\/h5>
Rather than rely on the tension from stakes, frame tents use a tubular metal structure to support their canopies. This allows them to work without the support of center poles and gives them much more flexibility in their placement: you can use them right next to buildings or even indoors, also work well as semi-permanent structures.<\/p>

All of this flexibility comes at a price, however. Frame tents<\/a> are usually significantly more expensive than both pole and tension shelters. They are considerably heavier and require a lot more work to set up; a frame tent<\/a> can easily take four times longer to put up than a comparably-sized pole model. Using very specialized hardware, if you damage or lose a single component, you will have to get a replacement from the manufacturer, which will render it useless in the meantime.<\/p>

Even the available size range is affected by their design, since there's a limit to how wide you can make a structure without adding internal supports. While the width is limited to a forty foot maximum, however, the length is not. If your practical needs are the priority and you're willing to deal with the additional costs and work involved with using one, a frame tent might be a good option.<\/p>

Tension tents are very similar to traditional pole tents: they use perimeter and center poles for support, rely on tension from tie-downs to keep the roof in place, sharing the simple portability and installation of standard pole-based structures. In fact, the only real structural difference between tension and other pole canopies is the size of their peaks. Tension canopies have much taller peaks than other shelters - they're often referred to as \"high peak\" tents - and offer a more dramatic and elegant look. You'll find them at many formal and business events.<\/p>

Of course, because tension tents<\/a> are a form of pole tent, they have the same kind of limitations. You have to leave a fair amount of clearance for staking and you can't use them right next to buildings or indoors. And even though these canopies may have a spacious, open feel, they still have center poles that can interfere with visibility and certain layouts.<\/p>
Due to the nature of their construction, tension canopies are more expensive than regular pole tents. They're not usually as expensive as frame structures, but prices can be fairly close depending on the manufacturer and model. To clean your canopy, simply use warm, soapy water. Dish detergent works well and will remove any heavy deposits. Remove the soap off both sides before setting the canopy up to dry. A garden hose with a spray nozzle set to a ?flat? setting works well. Spray from top to bottom in vertical swipes until all of the soap residue has been removed. Do not use bleach - it will cause the fabric to discolor.<\/p>
2. Drying The Canopy Fabric<\/h5>
Fully stretch the canopy fabric out. To keep it off the ground, you can use a clothesline, sawhorses, or even the bed of a pickup truck. Many trucks will have a black spray in or fiberglass bed liner that retains heat, speeding the drying process. Allow air and light to hit as much of the fabric as possible — this will reduce the chance of mold and mildew.<\/p>

Today, we're going to take you through the different options for purchasing pop up canopies so that you can make that perfect choice.<\/p>

Pop-up canopies, also called instant canopies, have a well-deserved reputation for being the most user-friendly type of canopy. Why are these canopies<\/a> considered so convenient? That would be due to the unique accordion-style frames that collapse and expands easily with just a little pulling and pushing. Many like this type of canopy since it only takes one or two people to set up and take down without the use of any tools. <\/p>
However, it should be noted that no two canopies are going to be exactly the same regarding construction, but all shelters labeled as \"pop up\" should have a set up similar to this. If the assembly has many complicated steps or requires tools, it's not truly an instant canopy<\/a>. Be sure to keep that in mind while searching because products can sometimes be mislabeled or, unfortunately, have names that are designed to mislead you.<\/p>
So once you've decided to get one, finding the right one is the next step. Unfortunately, that can be much less user-friendly. There are many styles and sizes available, so how do you know which one is the right one for you? With this guide, you'll find that selecting the right one isn't as intimidating as it might first appear.<\/p> <\/div>

Determining Your Needs<\/h2>
The first step is determining what instant canopy fits your needs. What are you planning on using your shelter for? That has a direct correlation to the size of canopy needed. For example, a canopy that is going to be used for a backyard barbecue would need to be bigger than one used for a craft show. The amount of space you need depends on what your plans are.<\/p>

Unfortunately, individual circumstances vary so there is no definite way to determine an ideal canopy size. However, you can get a rough estimate of how much room you need by allowing ten to twelve square feet per person when hosting a party.<\/p>
With chairs or lecture-like layouts, you could presume five to six square feet per chair. Or, for an event with meals, you can estimate around 12 square feet per person when using round tables, or 10 when using rectangular ones. <\/p>
For business and commercial uses, the way to estimate is a little different. For a craft tent, sales booth, or display center, instead of measuring for people, the best way to determine your space requirements is to measure all of the items. This will indicate what size canopy you need.<\/p> <\/div>

Materials and Me<\/h2>
Many popup canopies and tents<\/a> have a similar setup, but that doesn't mean they are exactly the same. Made with a variety of materials, your needs may be better suited by specific options. There are two main options for tops, frames, and leg position. But knowing a little about them can help determine what is best for you.<\/p>

Most frames are made of either steel or aluminum. Steel is sturdy but heavier and less portable than aluminum. On the other hand, aluminum is lighter but more likely to bend. <\/p>
When there is corrosion, aluminum forms aluminum oxide, a hard substance that actually helps prevent further corrosion, while steel rusts, though many frames do come treated to avoid oxidation. This is important information to consider when selecting your frame.<\/p>
There are two main options for top material: polyester and vinyl. Polyester is most commonly used for pop up canopy tops. They also often cost less than their vinyl counterparts. Both types are durable and water-resistant. Vinyl offers better UV protection and weather resistance as well. They're even easier to clean! Many are certified flame-resistant, but they are typically more expensive as well.<\/p>
One other thing to consider when making the correct top selection for your canopy needs. That would be the denier, which is the measurement of how thick the material is. It's determined by measuring the weight of 9,000 meters of a fiber in grams. If, for example, 9,000 meters of a particular fiber weighs 550g, then its denier would be 550. It's important to note, though, that you can't always assume that a higher denier indicates superior strength if you're comparing two different materials. Every material has its own strength to weight ratio. <\/p>

Instant canopies come with either slanted or straight legs. While this may just appear to be a difference in aesthetics, it's actually a major structural component. Slanted legs are less stable than straight legs. They also take up more space while providing less coverage. A 10 by 10 slant-leg pop-up tent will usually only offer 64 square feet of shade, while a 10 by 10 straight-leg model provides 100 square feet of shade. However, the tradeoff is cost. Straight legged canopies are more expensive, giving you something else to consider.<\/p> <\/div>

Now that we've covered basic pop-up canopies, we can get into accessories<\/a> and other customization. These are ways to make sure all your canopy needs are met. Some of the accessories are structural while others make your canopy more convenient to use. A few of the most common types of accessories are sidewalls, stakes and anchors, and storage bags.<\/p>
Sidewalls are just what the name implies. They enclose some or all of your canopy for privacy or weather protection. You typically have a few different options of types of sidewalls, though it does depend on the manufacturer. Mesh walls, half walls, full sidewalls, some even have food service walls! <\/p>

Wind can present a problem with any canopy, but it can be especially problematic for instant canopies. There are three different kinds of anchoring that work.
