Easy to set up
We purchased this canopy to replace another QuikShade that we have used for about ten years. The first time we used it, we kept it up for two weeks in our back yard.
ProsThe canopy is much easier to set up than our old one. If you are careful and only pull it out a small amount at a time, one person can set this up and tear it down. The locking mechanism is spring loaded, so when you extend a leg or frame piece, it will automatically seat itself. The canopy is attached to the frame with simple Velcro pieces at each corner. Our old one had loops of Velcro, but this new design is easier to attach and seems to work fine. I would recommend this product with a provision that you handle it carefully.
ConsFirst impressions--it is much lighter weight than the other 12X12 we had. The feet are made of plastic, the anchor stakes are thin aluminum, and the locking mechanisms have more plastic than our previous one. Also, the canopy itself is thinner. It rained a few days we had it up, and, in order to stop water from pooling on the canopy, I stretched and clamped the canopy to the frame. This caused a few light tears--something that never happened to our old canopy. So, this canopy works for light duty only.
